Nic’s House

This project started when Nic purchased an ordinary house with a magnificent garden in a special location. In addressing the client’s need for additional and very differently planned spaces, the end result was a complete turning around of this home.

The bedroom / bathroom wing became the kitchen, scullery, dining and living rooms. The existing kitchen and dining room became bedrooms with bathrooms.

This design decision was made after examining a series of alternate conceptual layouts which would fill the brief of light open spaces and easy access to the garden space.

A new main bedroom and bathroom suite and three new garages were added. The existing garages were converted into a staff suite.

Exposed truss details elevated previously low ceilings into open, airy and light filled volumes of interest that open up onto the existing garden. A new covered terrace completes the re-orientation of the house that is now a special home to a special family.
